Why get involved in the Best Buy @15 Scholarship Program?
It’s a program with national recognition that can be adapted to your store/community. The program will increase your store’s visibility as a great community partner, thereby increasing customer loyalty with high schools, students, parents and local colleges. Increased customer loyalty equals increased sales.
How do students apply for a Best Buy @15 Scholarship?
Scholarship applications are available online at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or on www.at15.com .
All applications must be submitted online between December 27, 2012 – February 16, 2013 Recipients will be announced in mid May 2013.
Who is eligible to apply for a Best Buy @15 Scholarship?
Scholarships are awarded to students in grades 9-12 who will be attending a college, university or vocational school in the fall immediately following their high school graduation. Students in grades 9-12 will have their status tracked and be awarded their scholarship upon high school graduation and enrollment in postsecondary school. Best Buy Co., Inc. employees and relatives of employees who meet the requirements are eligible to apply.
How are scholarship recipients selected?
Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, volunteerism efforts and/or work experience. Best Buy partners with Scholarship America to handle the administration and selection of recipients.
How many scholarships are awarded and what is the value of the scholarship?
Best Buy Children’s Foundation will award up to 1,200 scholarships of $1,000 each.
Are Best Buy Scholarships renewable?
No. Scholarships are for one year of college study only and cannot be renewed for additional years.
How will students know if they have been selected to receive a Best Buy Scholarship?
Scholarship America will notify finalists in mid-March and request copies of transcripts and additional information. Winners will then be selected and announced online at
www.BestBuy-communityrelations.com and www.at15.com in mid May. Scholarship America will also notify recipients by email.
How do students receive the scholarship?
Scholarship America, as program manager, will make checks payable to the school that the recipient will be attending in the fall following their high school graduation. Checks will be mailed to the recipient’s home August 15, 2012. Students will be responsible for working with the college to have their check deposited in their student account.
How and when will stores be notified of scholarship recipients?
Stores will be notified of their local winners by May 10th and are encouraged to call the schools and recipients as quickly as possible. Scholarships are not renewable. The full list of scholarship award winners will be posted online at http://www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or www.at15.com in mid May 2013 and on the Community Planning Portal at http://www.bbyportal.com/cr/index.php
