Purchased Sony headphones in July, last night the hinge snapped off. Three months to the day buying them they broke. Went today to see if I could exchange, showed my receipt to the door greeter, who had a staff member meet me in the area. I went through the explanation of what happened, showed my receipt again he spent time with me, we decided on a replacement, he walked me to check out and left me with a cashier. Again had my receipt she went to ring it through, looked at me and said why didn't you buy the extra coverage I could have helped. I can't help you, do you want a manager? I said sure that would be great. She then called the "mod" told him I had an open box item out of return date, before the guy even showed up he was prepared, looked me in the eye and said you had 15 days to return them. I explained they broke after only 3 months. I wasn't planning on returning them. So, the moral of the story... if you want to throw away $300 on defective headphones, buy Sony WH-1000xm5, and shop at the Best Buy at UTC. If they had shown some compassion or even interest, I wouldn't be writing this - I would be singing their praises that at least they tried. So I'll buy them on Amazon, even though I prefer to shop locally.

Hi, Sarah,
Having concerns with a product failure can be difficult. We certainly have many more options to help with an exchange while under a Best Buy Protection Plan. Manufacturers do offer a limited warranty or just a regular warranty for a year for manufacturer defects if you don't get a protection plan. We certainly understand that not having gotten protection and us not being able to assist with a replacement as we do not fulfill the manufacturers warranty can be difficult. Please reach out to us on any of our social media profiles below if you have further questions or concerns we can support you with.
