Amber, a student at Destrahan High School was recently awarded a scholarship through the @15 Scholarship Program.
The Scholarship Program is directed toward students in grade 9-12 who plan to attend college in the fall following their high school graduation (younger winners will have their award held until they graduate from H.S.). The program is part of Best Buy Children’s Foundation teen platform to provide access to opportunities for teens. Nearly $1.1 million in scholarships will be awarded to 1,099 students nationwide.
Best Buy’s @15 Scholarship Program is pleased to award $1,000 scholarships to 1,099 students living in the U.S. and Puerto Rico who will be entering college in the fall after their high school graduation. Scholarships are awarded to students in grades 9-12 who demonstrate academic achievements, volunteer efforts and work experience. As part of its teen platform, Best Buy and Best Buy Children’s Foundation are focused on opportunities to help teen students prepare for a brighter future with dollars for college tuition.
With the inception of the scholarship program in 1999, Best Buy has now provided nearly $19.7 million in scholarship funds to help 15,438 students attend college. The program was restricted to high school seniors in the past but expanded in 2009 to include grades 9-11. Nearly 147,000 students registered for this year’s program. Scholarships awarded in each grade are:
Grade 9: 22 Grade 11: 110
Grade 10: 44 Grade 12: 923
