The State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (or “Cash for Appliances,” as it is more commonly known) is a $300 million Federal program overseen by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). It’s designed to help conserve natural resources by encouraging consumers to replace older, inefficient appliances with new, ENERGY STAR qualified models.
Each state’s rebate program is unique: Under the Cash for Appliances program, each state and U.S. territory is allocated funds to design and administer its own rebate program. Thus, your state’s rebate program is unique, with its own rules for redemption regarding the type and number of appliances that qualify; required forms and signatures; the eligibility of online vs. in-store purchases; and receipts to be submitted with rebate claims.
