Disappointing experience. The staff seemed untrained and unfamiliar with the products, moving slowly and offering little real assistance. When asked for details, they simply directed me to check the website. For a brand like Best Buy, I expected much better in-store support. Definitely not up to standard.

Best Buy has really improved its operations recently. There are some advantages to shopping at Best Buy vs a huge online retailer. One that comes to mind is same day pickup at the local store. They also have one of the best electronics and computer repair teams in the surrounding area. So learning to like Best Buy again was not that hard when you see what they've got going on.

My laptop began making some strange noises today, so I headed to the Best Buy in Rock Hill unfortunately, that's where the trouble began.
The Geek Squad employee in Rock Hill seemed visibly annoyed from the moment I walked in. When I explained the issue, he said they could ship my laptop to Kentucky for diagnostics, and it might take up to a month to get it back. That part didn’t bother me it was the attitude. I was told I’d have to schedule another appointment for the shipment, but I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome that I decided to try a different location instead.
I ended up driving 30 minutes to the Best Buy in Blakeney, and I’m so grateful I did. The difference between was night and day.
From the moment I walked into the Blakeney store, the staff was friendly and helpful. Josh, the Geek Squad technician who helped me, was absolutely fantastic. I showed him a video of the strange sound my laptop was making, and he immediately agreed it sounded like a fan issue.
Josh took my laptop to the back, carefully opened it up, and found a few hairs tangled in the fan. He removed them and ran diagnostic tests to ensure everything else was working properly and thankfully, it was. The whole experience was smooth, professional, and handled with genuine care.
Huge thanks to Josh and the entire Blakeney Best Buy team. You turned a frustrating tech problem into a successful side quest. I’ll definitely be returning here in the future.
