Extremely Disappointed with Best Buy’s “Protection Plan” and Service Process
I’ve been a loyal Best Buy customer for years, but this recent experience left me completely dissatisfied. I contacted Best Buy to schedule service for my Samsung gas dryer that’s making a grinding noise. I have a 10-year protection plan, yet the agent informed me I’d need to pay $129.99 upfront just to have someone diagnose the problem — even though parts are supposedly covered.
This feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. When a customer purchases a protection plan, they expect service without hidden or unexpected fees. Paying before any work is even done — with no assurance of quality or accountability — is unacceptable. A reputable company should stand behind its service, not demand payment upfront before earning customer trust.
To make matters worse, the website’s scheduling system didn’t even work, forcing me to go through chat, where the process was slow and unhelpful. The agent was polite, but the policy itself is what’s broken.
I’ll be taking my business elsewhere and will no longer be purchasing appliances or protection plans from Best Buy. Customers deserve better transparency and support — not fine print and fees disguised as “standard procedure.”

Lots of deals, and always great service.
Quick simple question, where can I find your PC power supply? A young man pointed me in the right direction and as I was going through the lot, another asked if I needed help, really helpful in size I may need. Just good to see stores that are there to help and answer questions now a days!
