Buyer Beware: Double Charged Nightmare Ruins What Could’ve Been a Great TV Purchase
I was thrilled to snag a 77” OLED TV from Best Buy during a sale—it looked like an amazing deal on paper, and the TV itself is fantastic in terms of picture quality and features. But holy cow, what a disaster this turned into thanks to Best Buy’s utterly incompetent and heartless customer service. They DOUBLE CHARGED me for the full amount, hitting my card twice for thousands of dollars, which plunged my bank account into the negative by over $1,000. For DAYS, I was left high and dry—no money to gas up my car for work, no funds to buy groceries for my family, and on top of that, I got slammed with overdraft fees from my bank. This wasn’t some minor glitch; this was a massive screw-up that directly impacted my life, and Best Buy did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to make it right beyond eventually reversing the charge after I chased them relentlessly.
Trying to get help was like talking to a brick wall. Their phone support? Outsourced to India, and every single time I’d explain the situation, they’d pretend to “transfer” me to a supervisor… only to disconnect the call. This happened MULTIPLE times—it’s like they have a script for dodging responsibility. Headed to the store in person? Useless. The employees just shrugged and said, “Sorry, it’s an online order, our hands are tied.” As if that’s an excuse for a company this big! I even tried the in-app chat, which at least got me to a supervisor without hanging up, but guess what? They too claimed “nothing more we can do” and sent me packing. No compensation for the fees, no apology gift card, no expedited resolution—nada. Just a big fat “too bad” while I suffered the consequences of THEIR mistake.
How is this even possible in 2025? A multi-billion-dollar retailer double-charging customers for high-ticket items and then ghosting them? It’s outrageous, unethical, and straight-up predatory. This experience completely soured what should’ve been an exciting upgrade for my home. Instead of enjoying my new TV, I’m fuming over the stress and financial hit. If you’re thinking of buying from Best Buy, especially online, RUN the other way. Shop literally anywhere else—your wallet and sanity will thank you. Zero stars if I could; this company doesn’t deserve your business. Best Buy, shame on you!
Product selection is great the staff is very helpful
Store is well kept. I was greeted at the door and guided to the correct section. Unfortunately they did not have the item I was there for.
