The Saratoga Springs Lions Club Foundation has received a $1,000 TagTeam Award from Best Buy.

The Best Buy TagTeam Award program recognizes the volunteer efforts of its employees by making a financial contribution to nonprofit organizations where employees offer their leadership, expertise and time.

The Best Buy Saratoga Blue Angel Volunteers participated in the 8th annual Saratoga Springs Lions Club Duathlon, competing as a corporate team entry as well as keeping the course safe with volunteers at corners to direct runners and handle traffic.

“The civic work that the Saratoga Springs Lions Club is involved with is close to the mission of Best Buy and our own store,” Saratoga Springs General Manager Dave Ross said. “Our Blue Angel Volunteers are looking forward to being a part of this year’s Duathlon again at the end of May.”

Formed in 1925 with 28 charter members, the Saratoga Springs Lions Club is a fellowship of men and women from all age groups, from all career fields, from all ethnic and religious backgrounds, and from various income levels, who share a commitment to serve the community through participation in Lions projects and fund raising events.

“We would like to thank Best Buy for the monetary contribution and it is a great step forward for the Lions in support of eyesight, hearing, diabetes and youth programs in the community that we support,” Saratoga Springs Lions Club Foundation president Don Hall said. “Last year with the manpower and looking forward to Best Buy’s support again this year helps us run another top-notch fundraiser.”
