Our experience with BEST BUY has been an absolute nightmare. In October 2024, we paid over $8500 for an 85 inch TV. It worked well for 5 months. Yesterday it died. First call was to the Geek Squad.online. A ROBOT answered the call and required us to supply TV's SERIAL NUMBER before the call could be continued. Robot ended the call because (after considerable effort) we were unable to read it.
Geek Squad had installed the TV into a tightly recessed space in such a fashion that reading the serial number was beyond impossible. It is located on the back of the TV, upside down, and in such small numbers that a microscope would be required to read it.
After countless futile calls to off shore locations answered by heavily accented personnel, we had the idea to call the local store and ask for SALES, and OF COURSE, got an immediate response from an enthusiastic human wanting to make a sale.
After further discussions, that human voice connected us with the Geek department.
That's when things really went south. Still unable to discern the serial number, Best Buy gave us no choice but to send another Geek Squad to dismantle the TV for the SOLE PURPOSE of reading the serial number - all for the additional cost of $160!!!
BEST BUY is the WORST puchasing experience we have ever had. Their use of robots and offshore personnel is aggravating and frustrating. Their insistence on requiring a serial number before addressing a problem is UNACCEPTABLE. And charging an additional fee to undo a situation that their own Geek Squad created is offensive.
We hope their obnoxious business practices lead them to bankruptcy. We will never, ever purchase another item from BEST BUY. We suggest you do the same.
