Brought my laptop in for an ASUS warranty repair after ASUS specifically directed me to use Best Buy as the intake point. The experience was disappointing from start to finish.
What went wrong:
• Without notifying or asking me, Geek Squad shipped my laptop to a service center in Kentucky. When I asked, the only explanation given was "ASUS wanted it."
• The repair took about a month. When I got the pickup notification and arrived, my laptop was returned WITHOUT the original box I had handed in at drop-off. I told the manager this box had personal value to me, and the response was dismissive.
• The actual issues weren't resolved. The speaker problem I originally reported sounds identical to before — I have side-by-side recordings.
• At pickup, I was pressured to sign a form stating the service was satisfactory, though it was not.
• The paperwork also listed "additional issues" with the device that I never reported, and that weren't there before drop-off, which feels like protection against future warranty claims rather than honest documentation.
If you have a device under warranty, I'd strongly recommend shipping it directly to the manufacturer rather than using this location as a middleman.
Best Buy is selling defective products. They do not provide any support post purchase.
Was in and out of the store in good time. Decent prices for my electronics and helpful staff.
