After approximately 10 years of positive experiences with this location, my most recent visit to Geek Squad in El Centro was extremely disappointing.
I brought in my MacBook Pro for serious intermittent freezing and performance issues that began after a macOS upgrade previously performed at this location. Because the issue does not occur on demand, I provided written notes detailing the symptoms. Unfortunately, my concerns were not properly documented and were reduced to a simplified work order that did not reflect the issue I was seeking help with.
When I later spoke with the technician, it was clear he had not reviewed the information I provided. Before any diagnostics were performed, he repeatedly suggested the issue was likely user-related and insisted I demonstrate an intermittent problem immediately after startup despite being told it occurs randomly.
I understand diagnostics would have been performed had I left the laptop there. However, the dismissive manner in which the interaction was handled caused me to lose confidence and take my computer elsewhere.
I attempted to resolve this through Best Buy customer care and by contacting the store directly before posting this review but received no response after 10 days.
After many years of good service including as recently as December, this experience was a significant decline in professionalism at both check-in and technician levels.
