I went to Best Buy in Hamburg to get Zagg cell phone screen protector. The staff were very nice and helpful which was nice since I was in a wheelchair. A supervisor chatted with me about sports and had me taken care of when getting my item and checking out. Good experience.
Had an appointment for an iPhone battery replacement for 4:20 PM and upon arrival was told the service tech was leaving at 5 PM so I had to cancel my appointment.
After breaking my laptop and shopping elsewhere, that would not offer me an extended warranty, I went to Best Buy in Hamburg where I was met at the door by Allen. I told him I was there to by a laptop and he responded let me get you some help. I walked to the computer area and was met by Big Sean. He made the process painless. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I was very comfortable working with him. Employees like Allen S and Big Sean made this experience pleasant.
I went to Best Buy in Hamburg, because BB is notoriously helpful and offers great support. I've had good experiences with them in the past, and I held that hope.
I bought a MacBook in March 2026. Have loved it. Nothing to complain about with that.
But the sales rep was AWFUL, which I'm fully realizing today.
I went in with two of my kids to shop. They had a promotion going on. I needed a new laptop. I walked away and thought I was happy.
The sales rep told me two outright lies.
1) you have 90 days to catch the Macbook model you purchased on sale. If you do, Best Buy will refund the difference. Nope. It's SIXTY days.
2) today only, we have a deal going on where you get My Best Buy Plus (or whatever its called) for $.01. Would you like to sign up and get the benefits? (explained them in great detail).
I agreed. He charged me the full price, a $49.99 difference.
I don't want to assume Best Buy has their employees lie on purpose. Rep assured me he received no commission on credit card sales. I can't trust that's true either, now.
To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Best Buy used to be a staple in our home. One of the few places I counted on for quality service when so many other places have shown their solely about a bottom dollar.
I hope this was a one off. A poorly trained rep, not a systemic issue. Either way, back to other eletronic stores I go.
