I preordered a console for in person, midnight release pick up at this location.
When I arrived, there were two lines. One line for those who had preordered, and one line for those who hadn’t preordered and were hoping to purchase in store.
For reasons beyond any reasonable person’s level of sense, the store allowed 3 people from each line, each time they allowed people in to purchase.
WHY on earth would they not prioritize the people who preordered? Why would they not go through the preorder line first, then service the non-preorder line?
Many of those who preordered, including myself, had to stand in line for almost two hours while we watched people who just showed up without a preorder, walk out of the store with consoles in tow. Who thought this was a good idea?
It’s not “fair” or “equitable” to do it this way. It just screws over the people who prepared and planned, and rewards those who procrastinated and showed up the day of. I’m all for as many people getting the consoles as possible, but this was the worst possible way to handle a midnight release.
In the future, all midnight releases should prioritize or be entirely limited to those who have a confirmed preorder. If they’re not, it defeats the whole purpose and is super lame and inconvenient.
I usually have good experiences with midnight releases here but the Switch 2 launch was a disaster of mismanagement. They didnt tell anyone in line once they were out of stock and kept dozens of people stuck outside for 2+ hours with nothing to show for it. Felt betrayed as a customer and will not darken this locations door again.
I went yesterday to purchase a new ring camera and ended up buying an “open box” television as it was a good deal. The associate who assisted me with my purchase told me I could pick up the tv the next day as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with third row would not accommodate the size of the box. The following day I drove the hour to the store with a pick up and the ratchet straps that I was advised by the sales associate from the previous day to bring. I went to the counter where I requested my purchase to be brought to me curbside; so far no problems. I went out and pulled up my vehicle for loading and sat for 22 minutes. I went in the store to see what the hold up was and the 2 associates were standing by the door visiting with other associates. I asked what the problem was to which they replied about waiting to scan something and then proceeded to take it to my waiting vehicle with no additional scanning. I’m assuming that was a CYA excuse for standing around visiting. The tv had no box just bubble wrap; yesterday it was in a box for had it not been I could have fit it in my Jeep. When I inquired on the box the response was some mumbled nonsense about they never give customers the box. Funny, I purchased an open box at the same store 2 yrs ago and it came with the box. So they wasted an hour trip to Omaha (2 hrs round trip) and hoping it travels well without the box but at least they did advise me to bring the ratchet straps. Customer service would be negative stars if I could. Apparently open box means no box.
The worst BestBuy, don't buy from here. Tried ordering a TV and the guy was so rude, plus he plugged in the wrong delivery address which pushed the delivery date back by two weeks. Ended up returning the TV from there altogether and ordering elsewhere.
