We wanted a USB plug adapter. Many get hot, find me one that won't please. Done!!!
We had a work laptop purchased here that had the ribbon cable for the monitor wear out. We could replace it ourselves, but we had the protection plan so we brought it in for Geek Squad to do the repair. After a week we called to find out the repair status and were told that they decided to give us store credit instead of repairing the laptop. The customer service rep on the phone said they would be able to do a data transfer so we did not lose our corporate data from that machine. Sounds good at this point. I did confirm with the customer service rep that we could get the data off the old laptop and that the laptop was back at this local Best Buy store since I had been told that it would be sent out to Kentucky where they do all the actual computer repairs. So we scheduled an appointment and went in to get a replacement laptop and have them do the data transfer and were told that the laptop we brought in for repair was in fact not in the local store as we had been previously told and that it was most likely recycled. So getting our corporate data back was most likely not an option. The local employee said he would reach out to the Kentucky location to see the status of the laptop and would call. After no call, I called the local Best Buy number for an update which of course transfers to an overseas call center with no way of actually speaking with anyone locally. After explaining the situation, the rep says he would connect me with the local store manager and instead promptly hangs up on me. I get on the chat on bestbuy.com because I did not want to waste more time going through the automated phone system again and of course they cannot help at all and told me to call instead. I bit the bullet and called again and finally get transferred the the local store. They can't give me an update on the status of our data or the laptop, but even if they could get the data recovered, it would take 3 to 4 weeks.
This was the first and very last time I will ever use Geek Squad and will most likely avoid Best Buy altogether after this not so great experience.
I went there for a specific item. They had it available so I purchased it.
