I know it's a big business but they make it feel small
I had a tough time figuring out if Best Buy accepts old microwaves for recycling. You cannot contact a human being at a store via phone or chat; you get AI or a call center. Their recycling page says they accept appliances, list six that they do and dozens they do not. Microwaves weren't on the "do not accept" list, so I figured I'd be okay. WRONG.
Please update your e-waste recycling list to say you do not accept microwaves so people won't waste time and gas going in to the store. I had high hopes of dropping off my broken one and buying a new one on my way out, but the majority of microwaves were new in their boxes without display models. I gave up, went home with my broken microwave and bought a new one via the website.
This isn't a knock on the employees or the store itself; the guy who rejected me and my old microwave was very polite. It's obvious they don't have control over the website or the lack of human beings to speak with online/over the phone. Still an annoying experience and complete waste of time. I hope someone else sees this and I save them the hassle.
