One of the worst retail experiences I’ve had.
I ordered an expensive laptop from Best Buy’s website because it showed it was available for same-day pickup at the Perimeter location. After placing the order, it suddenly updated to say the laptop wouldn’t be ready until May 29th. I tried calling to get clarity, but the customer service line only routes to call centers that cannot contact the stores directly—completely unhelpful.
I tried switching pickup locations back and forth, and it finally updated to show same-day pickup again at Perimeter. So I drove 40 minutes to get there—only to be told they didn’t have it in stock and that they could route it to the Alpharetta location.
So I drove another 20 minutes to Alpharetta to pick it up. When I got to my car and opened the box, I realized the laptop had clearly already been opened and used. It was still logged into another person’s account and completely locked.
I brought it right back in, and the store said they would ship me a replacement in two days. So after a 50-minute drive back home, I still don’t have a laptop, lost a huge chunk of my day, and received a used item instead of a brand new one.
Unacceptable. Poor communication, inventory errors, and no regard for the customer’s time or experience.
Corporate/management - feedback for you. Your niche is a brick and mortar store. Why take the ability for a customer to contact the store directly for specific questions. Especially if I wanna call and inquire about specifics on an open box. There is no way to do this without driving to the store. I don’t wanna spend 45 minutes going to your store to find out something I could find out over the phone. If you don’t support your niche of being a brick and mortar then soon you’re not gonna have any stores left! This is why people buy online from Amazon and not Best Buy online. Plus, you are so understaffed and all your stores can never get any help from associates. Again if you don’t support your niche, it won’t be a Best Buy left in five years or at least many stores left open. Your leaders should all be fired in my opinion. They have destroyed your business model! Good luck.
