On December 14th 2025 I made an online purchase for 2 Amazon fire HD 10 tablets for my daughter's. They had been wanting those tablets all year and I was able to get them for their Christmas presents. When I purchased them I was surprised to see they were on sale for $104.99 each so I was able to buy the 1 year geek squad protection plan for an additional $50 each I think it was. The Geek squad thing shows that if the tablets are damaged while handling them don't sweat it they've got it covered free parts free labor. My daughter's are 7 and 8 so of course I bought the plans just in case. Fast forward to a few days ago and my youngest was watching videos with her headphones plugged in and she drops the tablet. When she dropped it the audio jack broke off inside the port and the screen got cracked as well. I thought no problem I got the geek squad plan so I'll take it to them to fix right. So that's what I planned to do. Wednesday May 14th I take the tablet to the Longview location and requested that they fix it. The guy I spoke with looked at it and automatically said he can't get the audio jack out and they didnt have parts so they weren't going to fix the tablet but what I could do is return it and get what I paid for it back (not including the geek squad plan) and I could get a new tablet and I would have to cover the remainder of the cost for the new one. These tablets are $200 so I would have to spend another $100 with them to resolve the issue. This was upsetting as I do not have the money to cover the rest and I knew I wouldn't if anything happened. WHICH IS THE WHOLE REASON I BOUGHT THE PROTECTION PLAN THAT CLEARLY STATES IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF FREE OF CHARGE. Best Buy if you couldn't hold your end of the deal then my question to you is why would you even offer the geek squad plan on a discounted item? Its not my fault that the tablets were on sale when I went to buy them. Its not my fault if you dont have the parts. Its not my fault that your protection plan states free of charge if damaged when handling. After this experience with Best Buy I will no longer be purchasing any electronics or any other merchandise from you whatsoever and my advice to my fellow consumers is be weary when dealing with them. If theres a way for them to avoid doing what they say they will they will definitely take the easy way out.
