Brand new refrigerator keeps food at only 43°F, not cold enough to stave off dangerous bacteria. Even though food was tested to be 43°F, Best Buy “repair” guy said the refrigerator performs within the manufacturer’s specifications so there is nothing they can do. I heard him say it’s running real hot to the guy who was with him and asked him about this. He said this particular refrigerator has no fan so it runs hot as it relies on ambient air for cooling. He said if the air in the house is hot it won’t cool as well, but did acknowledge that the air in our house was very cool. The only suggestion repair guy had was to try to keep the food all the way towards the back wall because he said that area is a little cooler than the rest of the fridge. Again, food tested to be 43°F at coldest temperature settings. Therefore 4/5 of my brand new refrigerator will not keep my food cold enough to be able to safely consume it. This is according to government recommendations as dangerous bacteria that can make you very ill can grow and flourish rapidly at temperatures 40°F and above. We also purchased the extra warrant protections and what not when we purchased the fridge but it certainly offered us zero protection or assistance in resolving the issue with our new “refrigerator”. BUYER BEWARE when shopping at BEST BUY. Methinks it’s time for a consumer driven rebrand of this company to BEST NOT TO BUY (at Best Buy). Consider yourself warned. If you still decide to shop at Best Buy, may your luck be far better than ours.
