The store seems to be well stocked and the associates on the sales floor are helpful and knowledgeable. On the downside the manager doesn't seem particularly competent. I was in today and there was no dedicated checkout register. Customers were forced to check out at the customer service counter, and there were two problems with this. First, the customer ahead of me had a legitimate customer service issue which obviously takes much more time to resolve than a simple checkout. Second, the customer service counter is clearly marked "Customer Service" and "Order Pickup and Returns". There was no indication that it was being used as a makeshift checkout, leaving customers looking around in confusion for something marked "Checkout". In the short time I was there three other customers approached the manager and (apparently) asked him where the checkout was. He directed them to "follow the yellow tape" in a tone which suggested they should have instinctively known that. I returned the merchandise I was holding to the manager and told him why he had lost the sale, pointing out the confusing lack of appropriate signage. He said he didn't have someone for checkout, but I don't see how that prevents him from manning a register himself, or pulling someone off the floor to do so, or hanging a prominent "Checkout" sign over the customer service counter. He didn't seem to understand that there was a problem, or how to rectify it. I would advise the owner to either provide additional training to this manager, or find a new manager.
My husband and I went to Best Buy a couple of days ago around 8 pm (they close at 9pm) one guy told me wear the remotes were and my husband went to look at computers, while looking no one came to help either of us (there was only one other couple in the store) or ask if they could answer any questions. As we were leaving I saw 3 or 4 employees standing around hanging out. We were told we had to ask for help, what happened to customer service??????????.
