The Worst Customer Service Experience of My Life. Boycott This Store in Palm Desert.
I’ve never written a review this harsh, but Best Buy and Geek Squad absolutely earned it.
I booked what should have been a simple TV and soundbar installation. Instead, Geek Squad showed up late, with almost no time left in their appointment window. One tech literally had a broken stud finder — and because of that, they proceeded to punch 15 random holes into my interior wall. I’m not exaggerating. Fifteen.
Then they moved to the exterior wall and destroyed the stucco, mounted the TV incorrectly, and the TV fell off the mount. Completely unacceptable. I now have an insurance claim for the damage, and repairs are nearing $2,000 for what should have been a routine job.
The customer service after the fact was somehow even worse. I spent hours on the phone with an offshore call center in Manila, getting bounced around with no resolution. Out of desperation, I drove to the Palm Desert store and spent 90 minutes with a manager who managed to mess up the return process even further.
Geek Squad came back to pick up the equipment — except they refused to take the Samsung soundbar because it was from a “third-party distributor.” So what? I bought it from Best Buy. Their logic made absolutely no sense.
I then took the soundbar to the store myself (with no boxes, because Geek Squad had taken that packaging), and spent over two hours arguing with an agent who refused the return because I didn’t have the original packaging. The manager eventually came out and told me they couldn’t do anything. No apology, no accountability. I literally had to drive to FedEx, find a box, package the item myself, and ship it — and I still haven’t gotten a refund.
This has been a complete nightmare from start to finish.
Between the physical damage to my property, the hours wasted, the incompetence at every level, and the total lack of ownership, I can confidently say:
I will never shop at Best Buy again.
Their customer service is a joke.
Geek Squad is even worse.
Save yourself the stress, the repairs, and the insanity.

I purchased a stackable GE W/D and I had so many questions. Martha was the best and patient with me. She explained everything and made my first time W/D purchase easy. Thank you!
This was the most racially profiled Ive ever been treated. I’m glad I don’t live in this town..please if you are of color or have tattoos stay away from this store. Rather than what normally would have been considered good customer service, felt uncomfortable, an invasion of space, and a feeling that I was unaccepted. Felt like every employee watched my every move and I couldn’t take two steps without being confronted by another separate employee. Was asked upon entry if I needed help or was looking for anything, I replied no and that I was browsing the store as it is there Black Friday sale. Despite this I was still approached by customers, managers, and staff every aisle I turned to. It felt like I was being followed specifically, other customers even in the same aisle as me were freely shopping. Other employees had clearly seen I had been helped, but still kept pestering. The whole stop was less than 15 minutes, I felt like I needed to escape. I can appreciate customer service but this felt more like suffocation and discrimination for how I looked. Pretty disappointing. I tried looking up where to respond what your employees was but customer surface I was rushed and racially profiled
