I just wanted to shout out the Apple department at Best Buy, and especially Mike, who went way above and beyond to help me out. I came in knowing I needed to upgrade my 2020 M1 MacBook Air and was honestly thinking about switching from Mac to PC. I’ve been using Apple products for years since 2004, and the idea of making a change was not fun, but I came in pretty sure I wanted to switch. Mike didn’t think I should switch and to prove it—he went out to his car, brought in his 2022 MacBook Air, and let me try it out right there in the store. That level of trust and support isn’t something you see every day. He walked me through the differences between my old machine and the newer Apple Silicone laptops, listened to my concerns, and helped me feel much more confident about sticking with Apple. It’s honestly frustrating how Best Buy has turned into more of a display case than an actual store. Every time I go in looking for something specific—whether it’s a camera accessory, laptop part, or even a basic cable—they never have it in stock. What’s the point of all those shelves if nothing is actually available to buy? At this point, Best Buy feels like a model showroom for Amazon. I walk in, look at the products, test them out, maybe talk to a helpful rep… then go home and order it online because that’s the only way to actually get it. It’s sad, really. This used to be the go-to tech store. Now it’s just a middle step between searching and clicking “buy” somewhere else.
