I haven't been to a Best Buy for 2 years lol, but this place was nice and the workers answered every question I had. Great spot to get electronics
Never have I gone there and found what I needed or have it be the "Best Buy". There prices are no better than elsewhere or even higher. I just bought a laptop at the same price as anywhere else and they didn't have it in store, I had to order online.
As a local business owner in Honolulu, I was appalled by the unprofessional and dismissive treatment I received at the Best Buy near Honolulu, HI, during a recent visit. I purchased an $80 DJI gimbal online and went to the store to explore other options, hoping to upgrade to a better model. What should have been a straightforward interaction turned into a frustrating and disrespectful experience.
Upon picking up my order, I asked the cashier—who was also the manager—to direct me to the gimbal section. He was busy with more customers behind me so he pointed me to the right department, once finding the right section and a employee was was stocking items there , I politely introduced myself and explained that I had limited knowledge about gimbals, seeking guidance to compare models. I even complimented the employee ( Named Zander ) expertise to foster a positive interaction. However, his attitude was immediately dismissive and condescending. He told me it would take “20-30 minutes” for me to understand the products and smugly suggested I should have researched online instead of coming to the store.
I persisted politely, asking to see the box of a more expensive model to read its features myself, as he was clearly unwilling to assist. He refused to open the display case and reiterated that I should have looked online. When I asked if another employee could help, he said no and walked away, smugly pointing in the direction of other brands when I asked about them.
I was considering upgrading to an Insta360 camera and gimbal, a $750-$800 investment, but the Zander’s attitude only worsened. He grew increasingly short with my questions, acting as though they were a personal affront. Even when I explained I could make my own decision by reading the box, he continued to obstruct my efforts, refusing to let me review the product details.
Frustrated, I requested to speak to a manager about my experience. To my surprise, the same cashier was the manager. His half-hearted apology lacked sincerity, and he barely acknowledged my concerns. As someone who owns multiple businesses in Honolulu, I would never allow a customer to be treated with such disregard. This experience demonstrated a complete lack of customer service, professionalism, and integrity.
I will not return to this Best Buy location and will share this experience with my community to warn others about the poor service. I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere for electronics, as this store’s management and staff seem uninterested in helping customers, even those ready to make significant purchases. ( May 6th , roughly 3:30pm . 478 alakawa st Honolulu 96817 , Zander was the poorly trained staff , didn’t get a chance to get the managers name )
It’s Best Buy…everyone has been there yet still order from Amazon. They price match though
