5 am is the earliest the guards will check you in, even with 5 am appointments. That's if receiving is even ready to work at 5 am which is their start time as well. After waiting foe receiving to finally assign a dock, you'll wait until they are ready to start, typically around 6am. Later appointment times can have better luck but not always. Do not sure up more than 20-30 minutes early depending on guard or receiving at the time or they'll turn you away or have you wait. Do not check in over an hour late or they'll have you reschedule even if you were in line prior to your appointment time.
