Staff needs training. Went to buy a PC, it wasn't available but that was okay. The issue was that the staff member tried to sell me something that $400+ more than what I was going to get originally. In this economy? No thanks. Also the staff member essentially said what we wanted was going to be trash from the get go and what they were recommending was better. One, I know computers and what the staff member was saying was an outright lie. And two, I don't think that's a good idea to tell me that one of your products is garbage, that puts a bad look on everything that's being sold there.
So I recommend instead of upselling, at least try to give options of equal value, also don't de-value something else that can be bought from the store that you'd obviously want to sell.
