Better help in store with decisions on what to purchase and also to resolve a follow up issue with the purchase "paperwork" (electronic payment) than using online or call in customer support services. Good people to work with in the store.

My experience at Best Buy revealed a toxic culture that thrives on greed, favoritism, and exploitation. Management’s approach was not only unethical but actively harmful to both employees and customers. Predatory Sales Tactics: Vulnerable customers—families who were clearly struggling financially, often earning less than $10,000 a year—were deliberately targeted with misleading financing options like Progressive Leasing. Customers were lied to about interest rates, which can exceed 100%, and were misled into thinking these options would benefit them. These tactics were pushed by both employees and management to meet sales quotas, showing a complete disregard for the long-term harm done to these customers. Such practices aren’t just unethical—they could have serious legal repercussions. Exploitation of Employees: Employees weren’t treated any better. Seasonal staff like me were given the worst hours and were treated as disposable, no matter how hard we worked. Management showed blatant favoritism, giving preferential treatment to certain employees while overburdening others. I was often left to handle physically demanding tasks alone—like loading 300lb freezers—due to a lack of communication and respect from leadership. Targeting Employees: Management didn’t just target customers—they targeted employees too. Certain staff were unfairly singled out, given no support, and treated poorly compared to others who were clearly favored. This favoritism created a toxic environment that made it clear hard work and dedication didn’t matter unless you were part of their inner circle. Unprofessional Termination: After enduring these conditions, I was let go without any notice—completely ghosted. There was no explanation, no acknowledgment of my contributions, and no effort to treat me with basic professionalism. Seasonal employees were treated as expendable, regardless of how essential they were to operations. Inadequate Leadership and Training: Leadership consistently failed to provide proper training or guidance. Instead of teaching new employees how to succeed, management either ignored them or relied on other staff to fill in the gaps. Even long-time managers often struggled to handle basic customer issues, which made it clear that incompetence was tolerated as long as sales goals were met. A Culture of Greed: At its core, Best Buy prioritizes profits above all else. Customers are viewed as numbers to be manipulated, and employees are treated as tools to achieve those numbers. This relentless focus on short-term gains over ethical practices and employee well-being has created a culture that is unsustainable and damaging to everyone involved. Final Thoughts: My time at Best Buy exposed how far this company is willing to go to exploit both its customers and employees for profit. From predatory sales tactics to blatant favoritism and unprofessional treatment of staff, the company has failed on every level. Until leadership prioritizes integrity, transparency, and respect, Best Buy will remain an unethical and toxic place to work and shop.
