I would give these guys a negative 5 if I could. I have a college student at Sterling College and we purchased a lap top for him this summer in Texas at Bestbuy. A month ago,He did a simple windows update that caused the screen not to come on after the upgrade, the computer would work when attached to a montior. After we tried to fix it over the phone, He went to this location explained up happened and asked for help and where willing to pay the hourly rate for help. He is 650 miles from home and needed this for school. The geek squad people looked at it for 30 seconds, handed it back to him and accused him of breaking it. When there was absolutely no evidence of damage. Then told him to call Lenovo. All because we didn't by a extended warranty. This crap is the exact reason I don't buy there extended warranties. Bestbuy either sends it off to a subcontractors or holds onto it for weeks at a time. He then went to the other best buy in town and believe it or not they would even look at it. I picked it up brought it back home, did a quick Google search and had it fixed in 10 minutes, it was a little tricky, but any alleged computer expert should been able to figure it out.
Our family has spent $10,000"s of thousands of dollars over the years at Best Buy but couldn't spend 10 minutes to help my son. And I would have happily paid their hourly rate to help, but they just blew him off and accused him of breaking it and told him to call Lenovo. I would hope experts like the geek squad can use Google and common sense, but I guess not. At best this just horrible customer service and you know for sure that thier commercials are lies. The geek squad is absolutely useless and I am sure they will just blow this off. Once I finish paying off my Bestbuy card, I will never set foot I Bestbuy again.
