I had a pretty uncomfortable experience during my visit to this Best Buy. While I was browsing, I overheard one of the employees his name is Ken, I heard another employee say his name. Bigger gentleman with long hair and lack of hygiene. He was talking to other staff in a way that felt really aggressive. It sounded like he was more focused on pushing credit card signups and memberships than actually helping customers. I even saw him pressure another employee about “not selling enough” and saying things like “your job depends on this.” It made the whole vibe really tense and uncomfortable.
On top of that, I overheard Ken mention something about having a criminal record while chatting with another employee. While everyone deserves a second chance, it was surprising to hear that kind of personal information being shared so openly at work especially from someone who’s actively pressuring others in a way that feels hostile.
Every time I’ve come to this location, Ken is always pushing employees to hand out flyers or aggressively promote services. I’ve also noticed that employees seem forced to keep approaching customers over and over, even after we’ve said we’re just browsing. It creates an awkward experience, and from what I’ve heard, staff can actually get penalized if customers say they don’t need help. That’s not fair to the employees, and it definitely doesn’t make for a relaxed shopping environment.
As a customer, I just want honest help without feeling like I’m being upsold or guilt-tripped into buying warranties or services I don’t need. I hope management takes a closer look at how staff are being treated and trained it really affects the shopping experience
I don't need the warranty
I don't need the membership
I don't need the best buy card
Management please do something about this gentleman I've walked out because I refuse to shop with him in the building
I feel uncomfortable going here the workers are caring but that gentleman not so much
Jared L. greeted me at the door. When I said I needed to replace a Microsoft Surface, he took me straight to the shelf, looked up the options, confirmed compatibility with my existing keyboard, and sent me to the Dedham store where they had a configuration I liked in stock on sale for 30% off. Great to see someone who know his store so well, and is able to translate that into helping customers.
