I’m honestly really disappointed with my experience at Best Buy. My brother was visiting the area and needed monitors to work while he was in town, so he purchased two from Best Buy, one of them being open box. Right away, there were red flags. The open box monitor was sitting on the shelf powered off, and they almost forgot to include the power cable with it. Ed assisted him. When the monitor was finally plugged in, it had visible damage, black blotches and spiderweb-like lines in the top left corner. My brother works nights and needed something immediately, so he decided to just use it for the weekend and deal with returning it later. Since he had a flight to catch, my mom went to return it for him. She called my brother on speaker, and unfortunately Ed was the same person handling the return. Instead of helping, he immediately accused my brother of causing the damage himself. He even said he had broken monitors before and was “sure” that’s what happened here. That’s a wild assumption, especially considering there were no visible cracks on the outside and my brother handled it properly. When my brother asked when the monitor was last checked, Ed claimed it had been tested before being put on the shelf. But a lot can happen between that point and someone buying a unit that’s sitting out, unboxed, and powered off. The situation only got worse. Frustrated, my brother told my mom, “just leave, they’re not going to give my money back.” Apparently that comment upset Ed enough that he responded by saying he now wouldn’t give a refund because of it. That’s not just unprofessional, that’s unacceptable. This whole experience felt dismissive, accusatory, and lacking any real customer care. It’s especially frustrating because Best Buy wasn’t even the first choice, just the only convenient option at the time. 😒 Definitely makes me rethink shopping here in the future. Poor service like this shouldn’t be the standard. 🚫
