Went to pick up a 43” TV I ordered online. The checkout line leads directly to the order pickup area—but if you stand in that line, you end up blocking all the customer checkout registers to your left. Trying to be courteous, I moved forward to allow people to checkout without being obstructed. Then a female staff member tells me “there’s only one line,” as if I’m doing something wrong by not standing in the way. I was confused—This setup makes zero sense. What exactly are customers supposed to do when the physical setup of the store makes it impossible to follow “one line” with causing people unnecessary excess waiting time? I wasn’t the only one standing off to the side; others were waiting too, trying not to block checkout. Yet instead of improving the floor layout you complain about a customer's spatial awareness. Do you want registers to sit open? If there's 2 people waiting to pick up and order and a checkout register is open, should I block the person behind me from being able to get to the register and just stand there when the employee calls out to help the next guest? Do you want us to just stand there and block you from being able to do that? If there is 6 people waiting to pickup and order and no-one currently at the order pickup register, or maybe there's only 1 person there (Like there was today, until moments later) should they all wait and block customers from checking out?
