A few months ago I attempted to help someone purchase a laptop for school. They planned on paying partially with cash, and the rest on a debit card. After some back and forth with an employee, we decided purchasing a gift card with the cash and ordering the laptop (as it wasn't in stock) was the simplest method. So that's what we did. After a week of waiting, and tracking the laptop, I noticed it never shipped. I contacted support a few times and was reassured it was normal. The laptop kept getting delayed, another week goes by, and I randomly notice best buy cancelled my order, and refunded me the money. I contacted support once more and was told the laptop might have been out of stock, and a full refund was issued. That's when I faced problem number one. Best buy has sent me an E-gift card for $370 to refund the amount paid via the gift card. Unfortunately the email linked to the best buy account was old, and deactivated, so I never received my gift card. I didn't think much of it, updated my information, and contacted support to ask for a new gift card. I was told they can only mail me a physical one, so I agreed and waiting for my physical gift card to arrive. A few weeks go by and nothing in the mail. I call support once more, and am told my request to mail the gift card was denied, as the name on the debit card used to partially pay for the laptop doesn't match the name on the account. They put in another request on my behalf, explaining the situation. My second request got denied. This went on 5 times, over a 2 month period. I kept calling support, and after back and forth they put in a request, that gets denied. I finally had enough, and decided to go down to the store and complain. A kind employee helped me out, calling support on my behalf. I left the store empty handed, with yet another request, that got denied a few days later. I made a second visit to the store, and was put with the manager this time. The manager once again called support on my behalf, gave me his phone number, and said he will attempt a few things and keep me posted. So I waited a few more weeks, and was contacted a few times by the manager, everything he did failed. I was told he can't just write me a $370 gift card, or discount a laptop $370. I was told "there is nothing that can be done at a store level", eventually he stopped responding to my texts. I am still owed $370 from best buy. If you plan on purchasing something from them, please save a headache and drive 2 hours to microcenter, it's very worth it, much better customer service, that won't cheat you out of $370. I am deeply disappointed on how disfunctional Best Buys customer service is. Very unhappy.
