I visited Best Buy today, and while it was okay, the experience left a lot to be desired. It felt strange that the staff simply pointed to items instead of engaging with me to discuss the products. For example, when I walked in, the loss prevention staff directed me to the SD cards by saying, "They're at the purple part," which felt impersonal and unhelpful.
This is definitely not the Best Buy I remember from 10 years ago when customer service was a top priority, and the company seemed to be striving for excellence. It’s disheartening to see how far things have declined under the current leadership. I worked at Best Buy in 2014, and I believe the CEO at the time truly turned things around. Unfortunately, the current approach feels more focused on appearances than substance.
Best Buy needs to prioritize customer service and attention to detail rather than creating a showroom for people to window shop and then buy from Amazon. There’s so much potential here, but without strong leadership and a renewed focus on the customer experience, it’s a sad decline. If I were CEO, I’d turn things around quickly—but that’s just my two cents.
