I went to Best Buy the other day for the first time in probably 15 years, and at first it felt surprisingly nostalgic. Back in college, Best Buy was the place. Wandering the aisles, gawking at new gadgets, dreaming about electronics I couldn’t afford yet — it was genuinely exciting.
That feeling lasted about five minutes.
After that, the store started to feel less like a tech playground and more like the final days of Circuit City. Big, quiet, and oddly empty. A half-empty warehouse with a few massive TVs glowing in the middle, like museum exhibits. If you’re not there to stare at a wall of televisions, good luck.
I spent about 20 minutes just trying to find HDMI cables. They weren’t obvious, they weren’t intuitive to locate, and nothing about the layout made it easy to find anything that wasn’t front-and-center marketing. And when I finally did find what I needed, the price was easily 40% higher than Amazon, Walmart, or just about anywhere else.
So no — this wasn’t the nostalgia I was hoping for, and definitely not the price. These days, I can’t really recommend Best Buy for much of anything. Unless you want to spend a few minutes remembering the “good old days” of browsing electronics stores — and maybe say a quiet goodbye while you’re at it.

Excellent Xmas shopping place to be
We asked the salesperson to demonstrate some of the electronics, however none of them were working the way they were supposed to be on the displays. I wouldn't be surprised if the store is closed within 6 months.
