I purchased a Playstation 5 from this store today. The sales associate was very polite and helped me out. When it came time to pay, he tried very hard to sell me insurance packages on my purchases. He then tried to sell me on applying for the Best Buy credit card. I asked him about getting points for my purchase. He said that Best Buy no longer gives points for purchases UNLESS you have their credit card. I asked the gentleman was applying for the card going to cause a hard credit pull. I told him I was trying to protect my credit. He assured me it was only a soft pull and I had nothing to worry about. Guess what???? He lied to me or was trained by someone with less knowledge than himself because Im looking at my credit report and ther's a ding from CBNA/BBY (Bank) on it from 17 Dec, 2025. The gentleman could have said he didnt know if it would do a hard pull and went to ask his manager. Best Buy is turning their associates into insurance sellers and are probably forcing them to ask every potential customer to apply for a credit card... dayum the outcome. #FAIL

This is unfortunate because this negative review isn’t necessarily about the store as much as the product. Late 2024 I bought this prebuilt gaming PC from the store. Was well reviewed and it was on a sale when I bought it. I use it to stream discord, open emails, make Amazon purchases and play one online game. Aside from that, I don’t have much need to do anything else. Within 6 months of purchasing I had to take it in to geek squad 3x because it would get a blue screen and crash on the daily. For doing simple tasks. One of the times taking it in it was found that it had downloaded windows onto itself 2x. The geek squad team was nothing but professional as well as the Best Buy associates. And I felt like they did what they could to fix it. We did change some Of the hardware too. But the team at the time had believed I had just gotten a bad PC. I haven’t taken it back in because I don’t feel like the product I bought isn’t fixable at this point. After that, I still deal with my PC randomly crashing. In a game? Crash. Browsing the internet? Crash. Leave it idle on the Home Screen for 15 minutes? Crash. Wake it from sleep? Crash. I never know when it’s going to happen or what’s causing it. Drivers stay relatively updated. Same for Windows. Sometimes it crashes and resets. Sometimes it’s just frozen. It’s just a it upsetting to have invested my money into a product that is honestly just bad. The PC I have is the: IBUYPOWER System Model: AMD RYZEN 7 7700 8 Core Processor BIOS: 3035 Memory: 32768MB RAM
