This Best Buy has great service. We've been a few times now and worked with several employees to buy various products including a desktop computer, monitors, speakers, an oura ring, meta rayban display glasses. All of the employees we've interacted with have been super helpful. The only issue we've had is with the Rayban glasses which is an issue with the product itself, not Best Buy. But you can't leave a review for the glasses anywhere else so this is the best we have.
For starters, their 30 minute demo requirement to purchase them is a joke. It feels like some kind of marketing stunt to get people interested thinking they're so unique and complex. Really what the demo turns out to be is a Best Buy employee putting the glasses on you and saying "watch these video tutorials that come pre-loaded onto the glasses even after you buy them". The gestures for the glasses are pretty intuitive, which is a plus for the glasses but another reason why the 30 minute demo feels pointless.
We bought the glasses for my wife and we've both tried them out. The glasses themselves are fine. My wife loves them but I'm not sold. They're not very comfortable and I feel like I have to fight to keep them from sliding off my face since the nose and ear rests are smooth plastic with a generic fit to support anyone. The functionality of the glasses themselves is over-stated and pretty underwhelming in my personal opinion. They support some very basic app functionality like Meta AI, Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Spotify, and a couple of very basic games you'll be bored of in 10 minutes. It's the core apps that Meta owns. For this functionality I wouldn't use these glasses much even if they were given to me for free because I just don't use any of these apps. Their Navigation app is a bit of a joke. It's marketed as in beta, but it's nowhere near usable in my opinion. It only supports walking mode because they claim they don't want people driving with it on, but that limits people from being able to use it as passenger or any other situations where it's totally safe. Also the navigation doesn't use Google Maps or Apple Maps. It uses some other map system that is significantly less useful and the results are unreliable. For example we searched for a large chain grocery store that I knew is nearby. It found the "closest" one to be one twice as far away as the closer one I knew was there. If you want to use the navigation while driving you have to search for what you want on your phone, and then the audio directions will play in the glasses. The lens is pointless for this.
After a couple of days we learned you can enable developer mode and install some community-built web apps which makes them much more interesting but we still need to play with that more to review that aspect fairly. We've so far installed "YouTube" and it seems to work pretty good. It doesn't seem to have the YouTube logo or anything, but it searches and plays YouTube's video library.
Finally, we have looked into upgrading these glasses to prescription lenses and basically what it came down to is you just have to return the normal glasses and then wait 5+ weeks to get prescription lenses custom-made for you....and then if you try to order the custom prescription lenses they have pretty significant limitations. This makes it seem like if you have significant need for glasses you're not allowed to buy smart glasses, they're more targeted at people who have minimal vision issues or no need for glasses at all. It's seeming like if you need a prescription for glasses it's better to get the non-prescription glasses and get clip-on lenses that are prescription. It'll save you about $200 and the hassle of getting rejected by Meta's prescription limitation.
This Best Buy is great. Ashley who works for Meta is great.
The issue is that Meta doesn’t tell you if your lenses won’t work when you place the order. They process your money first then email you back an hour later that they canceled your over 1,000 dollar order.
Mind you you must sit through a 30 minute demo (it’s not bad but if I can’t see out of them what’s the point?) and then order them.
Imagine having a normal eye prescription, put in your order and an hour later Meta emails you saying they can’t do it and you’ll be issued a refund.
I went in to get some printer ink. They had what I needed at an OK price
Dude named Stefan loves doing minimal work and pin his fault on others. Went in to buy a macbook air, I showed him an open box one with “Open Box” IN RED on the screen. This guy failed to find Series number, then proceeded to bring out a new one, then blamed me for not telling him I wanted an open box. Dude it is written on the damn screen. If you don’t want to work just stay home my guy.
I only give an extra star because second rep was super helpful and nice.
