BEWARE of this Best Buy’s Geek Squad if you’re dealing with BitLocker (Microsoft’s built-in encryption) or any computer repairs.
This store misrepresented the repair process for my friend’s recently purchased laptop and attempted to charge nearly $200 in labor & a new Windows 11 license for an issue that it did not require because most laptops have the Windows license key baked into the Bios firmware. When we asked questions, the manager, Dennis, provided entirely incorrect information and exhibited very poor communication throughout the interaction. especially for someone in a leadership role. Instead of helping, he made the problem sound more complicated than it was, pointed blame, and was turning a simple fix into an expensive upsell.
What they tried to bill as a complicated, costly fix turned out to be completely unnecessary. I was able to restore the laptop myself, including recovering files from a backup on the Microsoft account and the existing Windows 11 license, with zero help from this location.
This experience felt predatory, especially toward customers who may not be tech savvy. Extremely disappointing and not consumer friendly. I would advise going elsewhere with computer issues, even if you purchased through this BestBuy location.
Do not advertise 1hr pick up if it takes over 4 hours to honor the request.

The worst experience I have ever had purchasing anything.
Purchased a jacked up computer that had a manufacturing defect, had to drive it back and forth 5 times for them to send it out for repair. Was finally refunded; ordered a custom build. The return plus the ordering the custom computer took almost 3 hours.
I received a text a few days later saying it was ready to pick up, drove 45 min to the store and it was just the parts. Pretty annoyed I drove home. No local store number to get an actual person in the phone.
3 days later I recieved another text saying the order way ready. I drive back to the store, the customer computer was still not built.
I have a 15000$ credit card at this store and I will be cancelling it tonight. Ridiculous horrible way to do business. Will never purchase another item from Best Buy as long as I live.
