Hello. I know "life happens" but I did want to let people know about my frustration with a recent experience at the Best buy in Valley Stream. Not saying you shouldn't use them for this type of work because I think that they do it all the time and it's usually done well from what I hear. Just making you aware of what happened to me so that maybe you can figure out how to avoid it happening to you. Basically I was told the price.. show them the item being installed.. day of the appointment I show up to be told that they want to reschedule. Also told that the price is going to be 150% more than I was quoted. They said the reason why it was more expensive is because they didn't know that they need to drill a small hole to install the camera. The kit comes with instructions that I showed them before I scheduled the appointment. It includes a drill saw bit and everything. I was very frustrated because I took a half day off of work. Turns out that the employee that was supposed to be doing the install had jury duty but didn't tell his manager until shortly before he's supposed to be at work or something like that. I guess that's why they didn't call me the day before or the morning of to tell me that it's not happening. I was frustrated enough that I ended up not doing it at Best buy and I found somebody through a Facebook group that was able to charge me $150 and came to my office to do the installation. He's like a freelancer not a licensed and insured kind of shop whatever but worked out well for me. Just making people aware of this not good experience that I had at the Best buy so that hopefully you will be able to plan and not have the same experience. Life happens. I get it. Just saying they should have handled this differently. I would probably try using them again in the future if it was a similar issue but this was the first time I ever had to deal with this so maybe next time I would ask for someone in the installation Department to look at the item I am installing. As far as somebody not showing up for work and them canceling my appointment at the time of the appointment when I'm already there.. I think for that they should have done something to compensate me for the frustration. Maybe they should have told me that they would charge half price for the installation or giving me a gift card for Best buy or something. I don't see how you can do that to a person and think that it's acceptable. If I prepaid for my appointment and I didn't show up how would they handle that? I don't know the answer just wondering.
