When I went in looking for a specific product I was not sure where to look in a giant store. Immediately within the doors to the right were two employees talking to each other, one leaning on the counter.
Took me more time than I cared to spend to find an employee that would answer ONE question for me. That employee (man) told me (woman) that I didn't need the product I wanted which was a wireless mic for my phone and told me to just get earbuds instead.
I looked at those products and they were not suitable for my needs. There was a very tiny and underwhelming amount pf wireless mics. The one I wanted had a damaged box. At the checkout, I asked if I could have a discount. The nice cashier did her job well. She immediately paged management. Nobody came. The line behind me was getting fairly long as we all waited for a manager to show up.
After several minutes and grumbling customers, the man who was leaning on the counter to the right of the door FINALLY started to come over. He was a manager who was 15 feet away completely ignoring his employees two calls for a manager. By the time he waddled over to us a different manager made it up to us from somewhere far enough away that I could tell she was rushing to the front. She beat the manager who was within eyesight of every waiting customer, just leaning there talking to someone.
Makes me wonder how they choose to promote people. Nepotism? Golf buddies? Sexism? It certainly was not for performance and that really pisses me off in a company.
