Avoid Best Buy entirely if price matters to you. Buy from Amazon!
Context:
3/20/26. Driving pass this Best Buy store, and bought a SanDisk SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II card at $259.00. Out of trust to Best Buy, checked out smoothly.
Backed home, and this morning, searched it in Amazon. It's selling at $199.95.
Called the store for price match. Got two representatives.
1/ Want to push back for the price match with all different policies and challenges. Eventually, the representative was able to locate the transaction with exactly the same item. The representative agreed for ~$60 refund. Then suddenly the representative found another reason - when I checked out, I did not associate the transaction with my Best Buy account. So, the only ways out are:
a/ Drove back to the shop to talk to the shop for price match. (I lived ~2 hours away from the shop.)
b/ Returned it. (er....then...what? Buy from Amazon?
Asked to talk to the supervisor, the representative transferred to a number that no one picked up the phone, and was dropped.
b/ Called in again. Another representative picked up the phone (Named himself Marvin). This representative is even more interesting. Marvin just said sorry, I cannot find any information about the transaction. I said the previous representative found the details with Customer Service PIN on the receipt. The representative just insists no, I cannot find anything.
Lessons Learned
1/ Buy Amazon. The return/price match experiences are so much smooth. Seems Amazon still treats customer experiences as top priority
2/ If you have to/MUST buy from Best Buy, before checking out, check out Amazon price, and asks for Price Match on site.
Well, if you have a lot cash, and never worries about return or price match, then please ignore this.
Will try to go to local Best Buy to return it (hopefully Best Buy does not come up with all kinds of reasons to block the return), and then BUY from Amazon!
Bethany at the Geek Squad is very professional and courteous. I hope everyone gets treated as well as I did. Can’t thank her enough.
I’m way late getting this out, recognizing Tom at the Cascade Station Best Buy earlier this year. Tom took me through a Demo of the Ray-ban Meta Display glasses. Super well trained, patient, took me through all the basic features during our 20min session. Great experience! Thanks Tom!
