I started coming to this Best Buy regularly as a hobby that me and my boy picked up after just moving here in PA. It’s a policy of Best Buy to not share inventory information and I respect and appreciate that.
What I don’t respect is getting different information from workers to mislead me into when my product would be in stock. So, I started doing my own due diligence, observing the people who wait in line for these products, and the workers behaviors to seeing me everyday check on stock, sometimes 2-3 times a day, but simply walking in, and walking out after checking on stock, nothing more, I’m not coming in and troubling anyone. Just coming in, checking on the stock for my product, and leaving (again, Best Buy policy is to not share inventory information) so here I am just trying to understand when my product comes in stock because apparently it’s the “hottest thing in all of the United States” as per one of the workers said to me
There was a worker there, that I do not have his name , but every time I came to shop for my boy at this Best Buy, the same individual would give me nasty facial expressions, and just displayed clear aggravation with me, one morning when I had enough of his behaviors I went up to him and asked for his manager, he proceeded to ignore me and start handling other customers.
One day, my partner walks in with my boy, to shop for our hobby, and come out to tell me that the SAME individual was being rude and giving her nasty facial expressions because of WHAT SHE ASKED TO PURCHASE.
So I decided to come in and speak with the manager, and try to dispute it with him directly. The manager, Dennis, showed a great deal of frustration towards the community of this “Pokemon” hobby, saying things like “wouldn’t you be frustrated if after you tell people we don’t have in stock but they still show up 5-6 times to check and ask”, and I can tell Dennis was frustrated by the tone in his voice. I can tell that both the manager and the employees have been through a great deal with this product, however, I am not a part of this insane community and me or my partner will not be discriminated against because of “what” we are buying. If you cannot carry the weight of your product, do not sell it! Just because there is a bunch of adults who sit outside and ruin this hobby for kids, doesn’t mean that some of us aren’t simply trying to put a smile on ours kids faces.
Dennis, the manager that day, showed me he had no interest in disputing/resolving my concern, and only displayed his desire for us to take our own action on this matter.
As a result, we will notifying all of our clients, family and friends of this experience and be sure no one shops at this Best Buy, we will also be escalating the issue through our own channels since Dennis lacks leadership and maturity.
And of course, we won’t be shopping here for anything, so I hope Dennis and that one worker got what they desired!
To the rest of the Best Buy employees who were always kind, caring and concerned for our needs! Thank you so much and I am sorry that this review couldn’t be something to highlight your abilities cause there are so many great workers there!
All over a kid’s hobby, very sad.
