I purchased a Macbook Pro online on August 24, 2024. The Macbook was an open box item that did come as described (Excellent Condition). I kept it for a few about a week and decided that I was going to trade it in for a better Macbook for a better deal. On September 1, 2024, I contacted an agent on BestBuy.com to inquire about the exchange process. I was told that since I was a "Total Plus Member" that I was still within the time frame for an exchange. I was directed to go in to the nearest store to make the exchange. On September 2, 2024, I visited the Spring Valley location in Columbia, South Carolina, to make my exchange. I brought back the Macbook I had with all of its original packaging as directed. The salesperson did my exchange at the register. I clearly stated that I did not want a refund, but an exchange. Once the transaction was made, it left me with a $149.49 difference which I paid with my debit card. The Macbook was not in stock, so I opted to have it delivered to my home. I then walked around the store to look for a case for my Macbook that was going to be delivered. A few minutes later, I got an email stating that my order was cancelled. I immediately returned to the cashier to ask about my order status. The store directed me to call BestBuy.com because it was an issue on their end. When I called BestBuy.com, they stated the issue was not on their end and that the store would have to take care of the issue. I returned to the counter again to relay this and then was directed back to BestBuy.com. It was the store blaming BestBuy.com and BestBuy.com blaming the store. Needless to say my order was cancelled and money refunded (which would take days) and I was told that the only solution would be for me to choose another payment method to get the Macbook I wanted. Well I payed $3,179.50 for the Macbook I brought to exchange. The one I wanted was $3,238.92. Why would I pay BestBuy $6,418.42 and wait for a refund of $3,179.50 just to get a MacBook Pro?
