“Best Buy Geek Squad – "Shameful Service, Broken Trust, and Wasted Money”

I have been a loyal Best Buy customer for more than 15 years, I’ve spent thousands of dollars at Best Buy on computers, electronics, and services for myself, friends, and family. I’ve always recommended the Best Buy on Highway 183 (across from Sam’s Club) as a reliable destination—until now. My experience in February 2025, with the Best Buy Geek Squad was appalling, unprofessional, and financially exploitative.
I had purchased a HP computer from this exact Best Buy and when I started to have some problems with the computer I returned with the Computer seeking help from the Geek Squad removing a suspected virus.
Instead of assistance, I was publicly berated by the young Best Buy staff member at the Geek Squad check-in counter.
Rather than addressing the issue, they blamed me for causing the problem, offered no guidance to prevent future issues, and dismissed my concerns with an arrogant attitude. Even though I felt the young man was rude and mean, I needed my computer fixed and had no choice, but to leave the computer in the hands of the Geek Squad.
They kept my computer for a full week, charged me over $200, and and told me they had broken something that allowed me to access the internet. They told me that for an additional fee they could sell me an external USB that would allow access to internet.
I purchased this USB connection and returned home with my computer only to find out that the same issues persisted—they did not fix the problem.
I was determined to escalate my concerns to management, the manager was kind, but provided only empty apologies and a refusal to refund my money, despite their failure to deliver the service I paid for.
As a retired senior with limited tech knowledge, I rely on businesses like Best Buy to act with integrity. Instead, the Geek Squad chose to humiliate a loyal customer and take advantage of my trust.
Their behavior is unacceptable for a company that claims to value its clients.
Best Buy’s lack of accountability and transparency is staggering. This location prioritizes profit over people, and the Geek Squad’s incompetence cost me time, money, and dignity. I’ve shared this nightmare with everyone in my circle—do not waste your money here.
Shame on Best Buy.** What happened to your “customer service & appreciation”?
