I dropped my work truck off early at the Best Buy location on Hulen Street near Southwest Loop 820 to have a rearview camera installed. The technicians drove the vehicle into the service bay and completed the installation. The rearview camera itself did work.
However, when I returned to pick up my truck, the vehicle would not start at all. I could not remove it from the service bay and was forced to have the truck towed directly out of Best Buy’s bay at my own expense.
Prior to dropping the vehicle off, the truck had no starting or electrical issues. After Best Buy’s service, it was completely inoperable. As a result, I incurred $250 in towing costs, $1,200 in diagnostic and repair expenses, and was without my work truck for an entire week, causing lost income and disruption to my business.
Instead of taking responsibility, Best Buy required me to submit documentation to a third-party claims administrator (Sedgwick). After providing all requested paperwork, the claim was denied with the explanation that they “could not prove anything,” despite the fact that the vehicle became disabled while in their care and had to be towed out of their facility.
This experience reflects a lack of accountability and declining service standards. I would not recommend Geek Squad Auto Services to any business owner or individual who depends on their vehicle. I am actively pursuing recovery for losses and damages caused by this negligence and am prepared to escalate further, including small claims court, if necessary.
