I recently bought a refrigerator, a gaming device, and signed up for the VIP membership with Best Buy. The membership supposedly includes Geek Squad coverage for any Best Buy purchases.
The store employees damaged fridge while loading it into a truck, and when we set it up at home it turned out to be missing at least one part. I reached out to the store manager who told me I had to go through the Geek Squad 1-800 number for support. I called them and they told me the store has to provide support. I’m left with a damaged, incomplete fridge and no support.
The gaming device also had some issues so I scheduled an in-store Geek Squad repair. The tech didn’t even attempt to look into the issue, instead telling me I should go through the manufacturer because he didn’t know anything about the device, and that Best Buy doesn’t service those products.
I’m left wondering what value the VIP membership has, and why Best Buy tells you your purchases are covered by Geek Squad when the truth is that not all products are covered.
The employees at the Farmington store are dishonest and the membership doesn’t cover everything it says it does.
I needed to find an adapter and there were two offers to help right when I walked into the store and then into the department I was directed to. They didn't have what I needed but the customer service is outstanding.
"excellent condition". Means absolutely nothing here. Purchased an open box TV only to find that it was missing parts, had scratches on the screen, as well as on the frame, the wireless box might as well have been sanded on, and the screen was covered in oily handprints that were impossible to get off. They returned it without fuss, but nothing more than dropping $800 on a premium TV only to take it out of the box and screw around with it and waste a bunch of time and gas.
