I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Best Buy and Geek Squad.
On June 18, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., I brought in my Segway G3 Max scooter for warranty service. The Geek Squad representative informed me that they no longer repair this model and that, because it was still under the manufacturer's warranty, it would need to be replaced instead.
When I asked why they no longer repair it, the only explanation I received was, "I don't know," followed by a vague statement that Segway had changed its policy. No one could provide a clear answer or explain what had changed.
What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I purchased Geek Squad Accidental Damage Coverage in September 2025 for approximately $300. At the time of purchase, I was specifically told that this coverage would begin after the manufacturer's warranty expired. Now I am being told that, due to a policy change, accidental coverage is no longer available for my scooter. Despite this, Best Buy refuses to refund the money I paid for the protection plan that I never had the opportunity to use.
So let me get this straight: Best Buy sold me a protection plan, changed the rules later, took away the coverage, and then refused to refund the money. That doesn't seem right.
I later contacted Best Buy customer support online, and the representative was much more helpful. They assured me that a manager from the Pentagon City location would contact me regarding my concerns. As of today, I have not received any calls, emails, or follow-ups.
Customers deserve transparency, accountability, and better communication than this. If you're purchasing an extended protection plan, make sure you fully understand what you're paying for and get everything in writing. My experience has left me feeling as if I paid hundreds of dollars for coverage that ultimately proved worthless.
Very disappointed.
