We purchased an 85” Sony tv that was delivered to the store and picked up by us. Once we got home and tried to see if it would fit, we realized it was way too big for our fireplace setup. Note - the tv was never turned on, the cardboard/tape, etc. protecting the screen was never removed, touched, or impacted with anything throughout the process. We literally held it up, realized the size issue, and put it back down in the styrofoam it came in. We placed the tv back in its original packaging and took it back to Best Buy to exchange it for a 75”. Their Geeks (aka forensic “experts”) unpacked it, unpacked the remote, and batteries for the remote, removed all packaging, turned it on and the pixels were damaged. What’s interesting is the glass under the tape was not just broken - it was shattered. If it broke while we were handling it, we would’ve heard something or at least felt it. We didn’t even notice it until the guy “helping” us pointed it out. Prior to that, he said “put it under Best Buy damages” to the cashier that was going to process the exchange and told us to pick out the exchange tv. They left and had a conversation at the return area then came back with a totally different tone and said “because you opened it, we cannot take it back”. He basically found some type of loophole to blame it on us and refuse the return. Here’s the messed up thing - had we gone in and said “we want to exchange this and we never opened it” they would not have disputed anything and would’ve proceeded with the return/exchange. But because we were honest, a loophole was used against us so that Best Buy doesn’t take the hit for a product that was damaged at the factory or during transit. And the guy admitted “I can’t prove you broke it, but you did open it”. By that same logic, we never unpacked it at pick up to ensure it worked properly before taking it home, so how do we know it wasn’t damaged during transit or at the factory before transit? We wouldn’t have known at the house because we never even turned it on! It’s such an unfortunate situation and horrible experience with Best Buy. We are now stuck with an expensive/broken tv, still need to buy another one, and the 1-800 number they gave us to call to potentially resolve the issue pointed us back to the store. There are more reputable, profitable companies out there with more reasonable and fair return policies that we should’ve done business with instead. Never doing business again with Best Buy and I do not recommend anyone make large purchase here either. You’re treated as a valued customer BEFORE they take your money. After that, you’re clearly on your own.

Lowkey annoyed because I asked the guy if the apple pencil he was handing me was compatible with the 10th gen Ipad and he said “yes it was”. It was in fact not.

Please do not go to this store. Customer service is horrible. Staff will blatantly lie to you and say anything to get a sale but will not honor their own word. Will be contacting the Regional Manager and Better Business Bureau regarding misleading information about opening a store card.
