On 1-20-25, we went to the Racine, Wisconsin store and bought a $900.00 OnePlus 13 Androit phone. The phone was for my son who had an Apple I-Phone. The sales clerk (Tiara) stated there is no guarantee that data from the Apple phone would transfer to the new Androit. She then went to speak with the Geek squad and then said the transfer cannot be done. The sales clerk with phone in hand, appraised the trade-in value of the Apple at $195.00. Later in the day, my son took his new phone to a techie friend of his and he had NO PROBLEM transferring all the data. Guess one should not believe the Geek Squad. Before we left Best Buy, we asked the sales clerk if she would put the trade-in value of $195.00 in writing. She would not. She then said if we come back with the old phone within a reasonable amount of time, we would receive the trade-in value of again, $195.00 in the form of a Best Buy gift card. The next day (1-21-25) we returned to the store. Tiara was not working. Another Best Buy employee advised a trade-in value of $48.00. We questioned her and another employee why $48.00 and not $195.00 that we were told the day before. One of the employees said $48.00 because of a crack. When we spoke with the manager, he said we could come back and speak with Tiara. We just left. Best Buy reneged on their trade-in offer which they had made less than 24 hours ago. Thank you Best Buy Racine, Wisconsin, for screwing us. By the way, if you call their customer service dept, you get foreign speaking reps that are very hard to understand.
